개인은 오래 사귄 남자친구가 바람을 피운 걸 뒤늦게 알고 절망한다. 게다가 모아둔 돈마저 친구에게 사기를 당해 잃었다. 개인은 유일한 재산인 집, 아버지가 직접 지은 '상고재'를 지키기 위해 룸메이트를 들이기로 한다. 한편 젊은 건축가 진호는 자료 조사를 하며 알게 된 상고재를 눈여겨본다. 개인은 상고재를 찾아온 진호를 게이로 오해하고, 진호는 개인의 룸메이트가 되기 위해 일부러 그 오해를 풀지 않는다. 하지만 한 지붕 아래에서 함께 시간을 보내면서 두 사람 사이엔 의도치 않은 감정이 싹트기 시작한다.
